Advertised in 1987, it features Yamaha's distinctive CD Cartridge System, allowing compact discs to be loaded and protected inside a dedicated cartridge rather than handled directly. Its motorised loading mechanism, floating suspension, shock-sensor circuitry and three-beam laser pickup were developed to make CD playback practical in moving vehicles. With an 88.2kHz digital filter, illuminated controls and sophisticated tuner circuitry, the YCDT-1000 represents an ambitious chapter in late-1980s car audio technology.

New Old Stock (NOS) condition: Never been installed or used beyond professional testing.
