OSCA Fun Fact

Before digital sound processors and smartphone tuning apps, Alpine was already experimenting with ways to change how music sounded inside a car. The 3313's Sound Wide feature was advertised as providing a wider, concert-hall-like listening experience, controlled by a physical knob rather than software.

Alpine — The 1980s Car Audio Revolution

During the 1980s, Alpine was at the forefront of increasingly sophisticated aftermarket car audio systems. In 1982, the company introduced what it identifies as the world's first in-car computerised graphic equaliser, while its equipment also became closely associated with exotic cars such as the Lamborghini Countach. As cassette-based systems evolved toward CD playback and separate amplification, Alpine's component-based approach gave enthusiasts greater control over their sound. The 3313 reflects this defining period, when equalisation, stereo imaging and system expansion were becoming central to the car audio experience.
